David,
Ah hah. When I went into the database yesterday, it showed the parent set
for the BC-1269-A as SCR-615, which is a radar set. As the database also
included a long list of apparently appropriate components for the 615, I
concluded it was correctly ID'd (although I don't have the TM's) and that the
BC-1269-A entry was incorrect. I have TM 11-260 which says in part "Radio
Set SCR-616 consists of Antenna Equipment RC-281-( ), Radio Receiver
BC-1269-( ) and Power Supply Unit RA-61-A.".
The RA-61-A is also used with several other monitoring (countermeasures) sets
according to my database but I've only partially confirmed SCR-614 (VLF).
Hope that one of the PA/NJ bunch will pick up the antenna. Incidentally, the
BC-1269-( ) must have been specified early in the war as there were both
BC-1269 and BC-1269-A's differing mainly in tube complement and 12.6 versus
6.3 volt filament supply. Later in the war, the first issue items tend to
start out as the -A.
Turns out that both the BC-969-( ) and BC-1269-( ) were on my list of sets to
get if and when.
Also, the TM 11-260 that I have (with C! & C2) is the 6/45 edition. There
was a later 1955 edition that I don't have. Perhaps it shows R-593/GRR and
the earlier one doesn't.
