The RCA photomultiplier tube flyer PIT-700 (1965) groups the 1P21, 1P22,
1P28, and 931A together. Same base. Side-on general purpose
photomultiplier. The 1P21 is faster, and has much lower dark current
than the 931A. 1P21 and 931A both have S-4 response, the 1P21 average
anode current is 0.1 ma, while the 931A will handle a whole milliampere.
1500 volts working, 2 KV max. Lots of resistors in the support circuit.
Anyway, a 9 stage photomultiplier tube. Pin 1, first dynode, in
sequence to pin 9, ninth dynode, pin 10 plate, and pin 11 cathode. And,
they were used as noise sources in jammers, but I have no cross reference
of which one where.
