Dunno.  The 3611 was the standard interphone system for commercial 
airlines (and a few Navy aircraft) in the years surrounding WW2, so it 
was teamed with a variety of equipment.  Not much to it (like most of 
the WW2 interphone sets except the AN/AIC-5) but it offers a nice way of 
getting speaker capability from the "earphone only" receivers of the period.
