No, this is all metal -- gray wrinkle finish. Has regular broadcast band
plus four SWBC "spread bands", like the Transoceanics. Distinguishing
features -- "magic eye" plus 8 pushbuttons: on/off, tone, and "pull for
phono", plus 5 preset buttons like an old car radio. (This is slug-tuned).
Inside is an extra rack with tube sockets to store spares -- six or eight of
'em, including one which is an old six pin socket, although the radio has
only octals, and I don't see any other plug-ins. This is an AC
only/transformer unit with a 230/115v internal switch. It's out of reach at
the moment, but it has six tubes -- rectifier (5Y3, I think), couple of
6SK7's, and a pair of 6V6's. (Forgot what the 6th tube was.)

I had found a photo on a website somewhere, but can't seem to find it now.

Had the chassis out -- no schematic.

No-brainer -- five captive thumbscrews on the front panel and it slides out.
There are three tags on the front panel. One is the ID/model/contract tag
with "Bureau of Ships", etc. Another warns that it is not for shipboard use
(not adequately shielded so stray oscillations will act as a beacon for
U-Boats, etc.) Another refers to an "instruction book".

Heh heh ... One other interesting observation: This unit was made by
Belmont, one of the contractors for the BC-348's. It has 3 knobs (tuning,
bandswitch and volume) which looked kind of familiar. They're the same as
the plain metal knobs on the BC-348's, only painted wrinkle gray instead of
black wrinkle.

The only "hits" on the web I've found were on posts from some guy looking
for the manual. For all I know, this was his radio at the time. ;-)

Nope, the puzzles never stop -- and they move around, too.
