The appropriate dynamotor for the AN/ARC-5 receivers is the DY-2A/ARR-2.
The DM-32-A is identical, but that nomenclature is part of the Army
SCR-274-N set.
Also usable are the equivalent ARA dynamotors, and the post-war A.R.C.
commercial type 12 D-10 and D-10A dynamotors, or the military nomenclatured
version of the D-10A, the DY-86/ARN-30. The D-10A and the DY-86/ARN-30 had
a little higher HV current rating (80 vs. 65 mA) than others mentioned.
Of course, in service I'm sure things got swapped. I have a USAF R-11 that
has a DM-32-A still lockwired in place. That works OK in place of a D-10A
on the R-10 and -11, but I don't think that substitution would have been OK
on the VHF receiver R-15 or -19 that has nine tubes needing HV, and that was
often paired with a VHF transmitter or UHF converter which got HV from the
receiver dynamotor
I like to have the D-10A on my commercial nomenclated Type 12 sets, the
DY-86/ARN-30 on my military nomenclatured Type 12 sets (like the R-508/ARC),
the DY-2A/ARR-2 on the ARR-2 and ARC-5 sets, and ARA dynamotors on my ARA
sets. It's a real pleaser to me when the dynamotor contract number matches
the receiver's, but I guess that's getting a little too obsessive.
There was also a DY-2B/ARR-2, but I've never seen one other than in an ARR-2
manual.

So which dynamotor did the ARC-5 receivers use: the DY-2/ARR-2 or the
DM-32?
