Hi Ray,
My current favorite replacement plastic material for use in places where
1/16" Lexan is too stiff is the vacuum formed clear plastic that is used to
make packages for children's toys and a lot of small to medium electronic
doo-dads. The smaller packages usually use thin fairly flimsy stock but
the big ones are made with quite thick and tough plastic. I try to capture
the packages that my family members throw away at birthdays and at
Christmas. Some have quite large flat areas and the pieces are easy to
store after being cut out with sturdy scissors. I have no idea of their
longevity in use as windows or protective sheets for electronic equipment
but I expect a reasonable life indoors away from the ultraviolent rays.
The price certainly is right and it's easy to work with.

and last but not
least has anyone had any success changing the plastic window over the
book, looks like I may have to drill out the rivets that held in the old
plastic. already striped , cleaned and painted the case but have no idea
yet on replacing the plastic.
