On the other hand, I'd bet that the AVR-15 LF/MF beacon band receiver
was the normal civilian air receiver that was paired with the AVT-15.  I
don't suppose light civilian aircraft really had much need for a HF
receiver like the AVR-20.  I know the Signal Corps acquired some
AVT-15/AVR-20 sets, though.

Like the AVT-15, the AVR-15 is a somewhat disappointing design.  All the
room in the world in that big box (as large as the AVR-20), yet not even
a RF stage, nor (less importantly) a BFO was provided!
