I understand the sentiment to not participate in the Balkanization of the=

hobby's active members. On the other hand, if there are some who can take=

the time to monitor the splinter groups, it seems it would be in the
interest of the wider community to have 'an ear & a voice' in them. Those=

monitors can direct attention to the larger community for the splinter
members who might be unaware. They may also direct splinter members to th=

wider groups when the splinters begin to fail. It would have to be a 'lab=

of love' for the hobby, though.

For my own opinion on messages, I would prefer a busy group where I might=

have dozens of messages per day to skip & delete. For one thing, that tel=
ls
me that there is a good reservoir of experts for whatever problem I may
come up with & need help. And with so much activity, there will almost
always be some messages that I want to read, too.  =
