Chuck,
A rectangular box about 3x4x7 with an octal socket on one end and an
extraction bail on the other. There are three, PP-281/GRC 12 Volt, PP-282/GRC 24 Volt
and PP-448/GRC 6 Volt. The 24V is common, the 12V uncommon and the 6V rare.
They plug into a rectangular pocket in the side of the receivers (R-108, 109
and 110) and is also used in the AM-65/GRC. I have quite a few of the
PP-282's but another list member is now the proud owner of the one and only PP-448 I
ever saw and both of the PP-281's I had are now in a Jeep in Austin.
If the receiver has a metal nameplate it is probably a Depot overhaul plate.
Most of the units from that whole family of sets had decals instead of
nameplates originally. And none were being made as late as 1963, expecially not
R-108's as DOD gave up (or at least quit using) the 20-28 MC band around that
time.
