[Milsurplus] Radio Identification

Hi All,
What it would appear is that you have some of the basic components of =
the MRC-108. This was a jeep mounted communication central manufactured =
by Collins that covered VHF-FM (RT-524), VHF Airband (usually a Wilcox =
807A), UHF )ARC-51BX) and HF (the venerable 618t-3, it as Mike stated =
came with the 400 Hz power converter). These are great set-ups but it =
can be a bear to keep all these cold war beasts running. I had 2 =
complete units at one time, and I don't know how the M151 held these =
things, not to mention the overall power requirement if you have all 4 =
radios powered up at once.

Norman, Mike, Mac, et al,
I think Mike is correct, although I haven't pinned down the AN/MRC-xx =
number.=20
The '64 edition of TM 11-487 stops just short of the sets using the =
618T,=20
AN/ARC-51(*), etc. and although I think I have a later equivalent =
somewhere, it=20
isn't in the bookshelves in the den.
The 618T's run AM/CW/SSB and I think in some variants ISB and replaced =
the=20
618S-1 and -4 (AN/ARC-38). In any case, they do LSB and USB. The =
mechanical=20
filters used are the same as in the AN/ARC-58 (618S) and AN/PRC-47, =
and are one=20
source of the USB filters to convert PRC-47's for LSB operation (the=20
RT-671/PRC-47 actually contains an LSB filter but runs USB because of =
the conversion=20
scheme). Fair has 618T-2 and 618T-3 listed in their current catalog. =
AN/ARC-58=20
and AN/TRC-75 also use the same filters, but are not transceivers (so =
they=20
have four filters).
