Dave,
It looks like you got just what the box said. The very tip of the
Nike missile systems was the antenna. The missile tracking radar "MUST"
maintain link with the missile from prior to launch until directed to
detonate. If the link was lost, the missile was designed to self
detonate to prevent a "wild" armed missile.
All the Nike series were tube based, with "some" solid state. No
ICs, but discrete individual components.
It sure "looks" like the receiver transmitter section as I
"remember", but keep in mind that the Ajax hasn't been in use for
something like 40 years or more!
