Download these manuals as soon as possible, they are unclassified, but the
sites will soon require a password to access them.

Hope some of these help. Anybody who wants current Army or Marine manuals,
fire up your computers and download them now. The Navy training manual site
had a lot of good info, but you need a user name and password to get to the
site now.

Subject: [Milsurplus] Info about current radios

I'm a writer who has spent much of his career writing non-fiction and
technical writing and I am looking to make a stab at fiction.

I've been lurking on this list for several years now, and I am amazed at
how much I've learned, but I really need some more info.

Can anyone provide me with info or point me towards links for the following
stuff:

1. Radios currently in use by battalion and smaller sized units down to
squads and platoons. Any information on appearance, operation and
limitations would be helpful.

2. Current info on specialty radios used by special forces, again
appearance, operation and limitations would be helpful.

With both #1 and#2, stuff that everyone who ever operated one of these
types of radios would know about (gripe about, have to work around, etc.)
would be helpful. I don't want detail to the point that anyone could read
it for intelligence value against our guys, just realism. Are any of these
kind of radios for sale?

3. Info on current long rang radios especially satellite radios

4. and finally, perimeter security systems.

As this gets written, I would be obliged if any of you with any first hand
knowledge would read through it to see it I have any glaring mistakes and
if I catch the spirit of the scene accurately.

Please reply to me on or off list.

Thanks.
