Could be tin.  I saw black deposits on the edges of the plates and just
assumed silver.  Is the oxide of tin black also?  Not a chemist here (hee
hee)!

Any tips on freeing the ferrite slugs?  Thinking about using WD-40 on the
phenolic form.  Well, I think it is phenolic.  Too brittle to be paper
but I'm not sure.
