   b.  The AT-912/VRC antenna (Figure 1-7) is a square base antenna that 
consists of two whip antenna elements (AT-1095/VRC and AT-1096/VRC), a tip 
cap, an antenna base (AB-719/VRC), an antenna tie-down assembly, and a 
matching unit (MX-2799/VRC). The MX-2799/VRC automatically tune the antenna 
elements to the RT's transmitting frequency.


Keith, Ron described it perfectly but to answer the rest of your question, it 
is used with the AN/VRC-12 family of VHF FM sets (RT-524/VRC and RT-273/VRC 
in various configurations up through AN/VRC-49).
