there are a bunch of different solid state types out there if you poke
around in the avionics section of fleabay they are listed all the time and
usually go cheap, most are 28vdc input single or three phase out. there some
more complex lab types made by behlman and elgar that are 60 in and
10-2000hz out. there is one Collins 28vdc model that is used with the 618T-3
radio that will run most anything in the antenna tuner dept. it is small and
produces about 150va if I remember correctly, the other type I have had
great luck with is the PP-2352/TRC-75 that fair sells for fairly cheap it is
28vdc input and 3phase 400hz out at 1kva and is the size of a bread loaf,
the 400hz fan one the front could probably power a Cessna but a little
115vac muffin fan bolts right up in the same holes. works well as long as
you don't run it a full load. don't let the 100 amp input scare you, it
actually draws very little in an idle state and with the after market fan is
very quiet for an inverter!! it is also very easy to work on, the chopper
transistors are individually fused so if one shorts, it pops the fuse and
never missed a lick! most inverters this will cause a 3 alarm blaze inside
if anyone gets stuck for one let me know and Ill dig around on the inverter
shelf
