I thought "M" meant mobile, George.

The AN/MRC-5 thru 13 I know was used in the MB-MZ-1 and 2, or MBs that were
kitted with the MX-566A/MRC conversion to a CVD-10182-D (the MZ-1 was a
CVD-10182 and the MZ-2 a CVD-10182-B), CJV-35/U and I'm sure some M38 jeeps.

I don't understand the Navy nomenclature myself as most of the above units
are just noted as "similar to" TCS, SCR-610, SCR-608...

Just as the SCR is a system the MZ-1 is a system of the CVD jeep, TCS and
antenna.

My understanding is that post war the radios were set up as OA-25A/MRC-5
(SCR-608) and when mounted in the jeep in it's waterproof cabinet the whole
system including the jeep was called the AN/MRC-5A.

I'm assuming the nomenclature ran the whole MRC series. Wish I knew what the
letters MZ and MRC meant also.

Regards,
Mark Tombleson
