While reducing one of the hardware stacks, I rediscovered a dozen or so
vibrators which were part of a state agency stock I purchased. These are
Motorola dual interrupter (also called split reed) 7 pin units. These
were used in GE, Motorola, and some RCA two-way radios. I have no idea
whether there is a mil surplus application or not. The Motorola number
is 48C847730, and the equivalents are Mallory 1701 and 1701A, CDE 5722,
and GE 7141584P2 and P3. These are still in the boxes unused, but are at
least 25 years old and will undoubtedly require the reconditioning
treatment discussed here and in Electric Radio. If anyone would like to
give one or more of these a home, contact me off-reflector and we can
discuss it. Only masochists need apply. Of course, these would make
perfect containers to put solid state replacements in, as the cans are
still shiny. In that vein, I also have a lot more used examples of the
same models which are available for the packing and shipping costs. All
the regular 3 pin, 12 volt and 4 pin, 6 volt are long gone.
