Ralph (and Dennis),
The PP-1175A/SR (I've never seen or even heard of a PP-1175/SR) was used
aboard amphibious ships during the early part of the Vietnam War to talk to
the grunts on the beach. Fits any of the GRC family mounts in place of the
PP-109 or PP-112. USS Valley Forge still had two sets aboard (RT-68's in
MT-299/GR, equivalent to AN/VRC-10) when I reported aboard in late 1967.
They were tied into the ships transfer switchboards but were not used on the
subsequent WestPac cruise. While most of the rest of the crew got liberty in
Subic, an ETN2 and I were installing a bunch of RT-524/VRC's.
Manual is NAVSHIPS 95740 ($12.50 plus shipping). The supplies are good for
bench maintenance on the RT-66/7/8, but I'd check and reform the
electrolytics before lighting one off.
