[Milsurplus] Transformer Question Answered

How many other people have found the rubber washers under the ceramic
terminals on sealed transformers shorted, or near short?  I got an
otherwise good 51J4 that kept blowing AC fuses for near nothing, and
discovered the hidden rubber under the ceramic on the power transformer
terminals was the problem.  Low ohms to the case on the HV secondary and
the rectifier filaments, and the AC input was kinda leaky also.  This
receiver had never been turned off, so the continuous heat immersion may
have been a significant contributor.  Anyway, picking out the rubber and
replacing it with RTV seems to be a workable fix for the last 8 years.

Now, does anyone have an output tranny for it to replace the universal
that was installed by the previous owner, probably because of the same
problem?
