The MN series is a bit odd. MN thru MN-4 are basically FM vehicular sets,
probably used by the SPs. They are boxy things, one channel, and with a
remote made of extremely thick cast metal (why?). I think they are just
commercial sets with a Navy tag.
MN-5 is a complete redesign, with new ATR packages and lightweight
remotes. According to the manual, they could be used on vehicles and
aircraft, using a suitable power converter.
I had an MN-5 at one time, but now only have parts (like one of the
rotary convertors).
