Hue - I'm not sure of the HS-16 but a local aircraft salvage
dealer here on the west coast found a ware house out in the
Pacific rim some where of HS-16As that had been stranded
at the end of the Viet Nam thing and were being sold off
after it was safe to get rid of them.

The story goes during Viet Nam the rule was quick and dirty for
gear. Don't reinvent and therefore have to qualify anything new
that could be found in the military inventory. When a need for
headsets came up they went back into the records and pulled the
drawings and specs for the HS-16As and bid a production run. A
lot of these are now showing up.

As you know they are right out of history. Based on a design from
the 1930s. Its rare to find a NOS headset from that era in the original
packaging. Even most so, a pair with a still good set of magnetics \
and brown cord with the metal pin tips.

Check out the attached photo.
