Dennis I've got a runner here & it was the only pre-ww2 check-in on the
1st Collins AM night.

I know US Army airways used 'em throughtout Pacific in base HF way-
stations. This by personal testimony from a surviving officer in
"airways."

John Poulton @ UNC has another & it has a late/post-ww2 AN/FRT-??
designation plate whereas the WW2-era rigs were bought direct &
around the usual procurement system. Nevertheless a lotta inside
stuff stamped w. usual S-C orange-ink triangles & this might be a story
in itself.

Another example is the Jefferson-Travis JT350.

John Poulton's AN/FRT-?? rig was supposedly in service @ Charleston, SC
'til late 60s & was p/o Army-to-Navy harbor link. & that harks to ur
Ft. McArthur lore from Long Beach.

Mine came outa AL MARS & might be guessed as serving @ Mobile, AL.

John & I speculate they were in embassies. Like the black-
crackle Espey R-100s were guessed as serving. Do read 'speculate &
guessed.'

I no longer have a TM 11-487 successor, the "JNAP." If I did, I'd sure
rifle the pages for that AN/FRT-?? designator.

I'm much interested in ur research & I'll get u a pic of me & IT.

I posted this as an "apb" to see if it joggled any memories.

   Best,

    Marty
