Used to run 3 of the Harris RF-110 amps as an
intregal  part of the 270-5 system.  One of the 
amps in an earlier system used a pair of 4cx250b
tubes as a pre-driver stage - the 270-5 exciter
was a perfect qrp rig with 250 mW output, and
the pre-driver brought the level to about 80 watts
for the 4CX1500B's.  The amp could sit and run
at the 500 watt level on rtty/cw all day long, also
SSB at the 1 kw pep level and AM.  The AM 
quality was not all that good as it was difficult to
adjust in the exciter.  You will have a lot of good 
service with that unit.  Air Force, Coast Guard and
DEA used a lot of the Harris systems.  We surplussed
out our 270-5 systems in 1995 (just before I retired)
to the FCC for their backup system.
