Dave,

I have one of the original 4.2V wet cells, never filled.  Also, I wouldn't 
use a 6 volt and drop it.  At one time, Eagle Picher, Globe, et al, made both 
single cells (2.1V) and duals (4.2V) as well as triples (6.3V).  They may no 
longer make the duals but I'd bet you can still buy the singles.
