Hi Norm and the gang,

The "Y" suffix on the 6SJ7 indicates a Micanol (mica filled phenolic) base.
I cannot find any reference to and "R" or "RG" suffix.  The 6SJ7 was
manufactured in a ruggedized version (W suffix), in a GT version, and in a
GT version with ceramic (GTX) and micanol (GTY) bases; there is also a
6SJ7WGT, a ruggedized GT version.
This according to Ludwell Sibley's Tube Lore.
