As long as we are taking long shots...
The very recent West Coast Military Radio meet was a great success in
every way, as far as I am concerned. I purchased and traded for a good
pile of neato things, a majority being things from before World War 2.
Here is the "found" list, and the longshots that follow...
1) I purchased a BC-176 transmitter - an 1932 tank set very similar to the
BC-228 that popped up on Ebay recently. The set, however, is missing the
case. This is a rather distincive box, about 15" wide, 12" high, and 4"
deep, black *non*wrinkle* with two rather large bracket things on both the
left and right sides. A junker BC-176 would do, and maybe even a junker
BC-176-A or BC-228 with some modifications.
2) Another goodie is a BC-44-A. This is the external audio amplifier used
with the BC-14 crystal set. The guts are there, the box is there, but no
cover for the box. It should be very similar to the covers for the BC-14s
- OD painted wood.
3) Almost breaking the springs of the van were two old field set
motor-generators, an MG-CL-8 for the SCR-132 and an MG-4A for the SCR-136
(new in the crate from 1927!). For the latter, I am looking for the power
control box, called a BD-48. Large thing, with those nasty looking
motor-starter knobs and levers with the exposed contacts.
4) Lastly, I traded for a gutted BC-142 control box for the SCR-132.
Basically, I just need the little Bakelite panel with the two coupling
transformers and binding posts (these are the standard 1920s coupling
transformers mounts on a 4" by 3 bit of blackpanel with four posts).
If anyone could help me on any of these things, I would be most greatful.
