[Milsurplus] R-220/URR-29 information request

Good afternoon everyone,

I would like to get some information on the Motorola manufactured
R-220/URR-29.  I know that it is AM/FM/CW 20-230Mhz (from Bill's, NJ7P, Ham
Radio WWW Server).  I would like to know what services used the system, how
used, was it made in high numbers, performance, etc.  Is it a preferred
receiver by this group or a pain to use?  Is it easy to work on?  How hard
is it to find the sub-mini tubes?  Any and all info is appreciated.  I
hadn't heard of this receiver until I picked one up.
