The last I had heard, which was a few years ago admittedly, the Russians
still used quite a few tubed radios in their military gear because they
were much more concerned about (anticipated a need for) EMP protection
than the more "hi tech" solutions from other countries. That would seem
to be at least one of the reasons we still see lots of new Russian tubes
being available.
Can anyone confirm that modern Russian mil gear, including aviation, is
still heavily tube oriented?
