Re the Russian-confiscated B-29s, what a true ally of ours, what?

I only saw Russian consumer electronics before the fall, but even 
on that basis, it seemed to me that they were attempting to build
a parallel universe to the West, but without the West's diverse 
smarts, coming from a network of smart countries. ( BTW, the
defeat of the USA  in 'Nam really  helped the communist
internationale, right? With allies such as VietNam and Yemen, how
could they lose?).  Anyway, the  problem with the parallel universe
idea, was they had too limited a base. They just could not match
the rate of innovation, and the improvements in production, of the
Western countries. Even with their best & brightest efforts to keep
up by continuously stealing new technology, one could see that
gradually they had to fall more behind.
