[Milsurplus] GI sound effects

Nor really on sound effects, but....
I was at an airshow in SLC around 1995, and toured some huge
cargo plane, was it C-130, or close?? Anyway, i was debriefing
one of the flight crew on the radio, and he was telling me that
he lissened to BBC and others while in flight, this on the  2nd
radio, i would guess. He also said they could not use the radio
above about 20 MHz (as i recall the figure) because it would 
interfere with the aircraft's instruments.
The airshow was ending just as a sudden windstorm rose off 
the lake. People were running around trying to batten down
the USAF training gliders, which were trying to take off on
their own, and i was running for cover, the windblown sand
grains on my bare legs felt like buckshot.
