Dear Stan and the Group, (As I KNOW several of you are silently
interested),

My Dad among many other things did Morale stint aboard USS
Florikan
(ASR-9) during Korean Conflict. I have SEVERAL of his 16, 33 and 78 RPM
records (Famed 'Singing Sergeants Hour on N-B-C, and several others). The
ONLY
station I have found still has the gear to play these/record them over to
CD-R's or
Cassettes is here in Oregon: KMHD Radio, (Mt. Hood Community College in
the
foothills above Troutdale Oregon) -252nd St NE for you local types .
Other than
that, I don't know where you would look for such info, UNLESS you had the
old
Nomenclature/numbers for one of the old record players. THEN you could
browse
at one of the Military Museum sites... OH WAIT A MINUTE---- PERHAPS the
US
Army Signal Command (old sigcorps-new name) might have some info as much
of the WWII and Korean Armed Forces Radio System was run by them!!! Check

on http://www.asc.army.mil and see if the 'search' engine will bring up
anything in
reference to 'Morale Stations' or ' record players'. Shot in the dark
but......???
FWIW=OT comment herein:
I have enjoyed, from time to time, breaking out the Les Brown and
his Band of
Little Renown, and so on, and trying to picture my father doing stuff
aboard the ASR-9.
I also have a few pics of dad using radios aboard, including an old 6 MTR
with Discone
type antenna on a fantail..... and one at the watch deck?? Also a few
pics of Tokyo Harbor
circa 1950 as seen from the sea of Japan and as Dock is neared..... One
is even in Color.
