.Thanks, that's good advice all around.  However, I naturally don't have
the
.depot repair manual, and undoubtedly there have been advances in
lubricants
.in 60 years, so what will be a good high-speed lubricant today?

Richard:

You have a good point about modern lubes, and your best bet is to contact
a reputable bearing dealer and ask them.  Be sure to specify the size and
speed.  If you have found the numbers on the bearings, that will tell the
dealer the size.  Oil is the best for high speed, but difficult to keep
in place.  I don't know if lithium based lubes are still all the rage, or
if something newer is preferred these days.
