Just wanted all on the milsurplus list to know that we were able to
obtain the required resistor for our TBW at the USS Ling from one of the
good people on this list. Actually there were several offers, all very
much appreciated, plus some good stories and much timely advice as well.
Today we got good RF and the sweet sound of the large keying relay
chattering away from the TBW, powering it with a "civilian" power supply
with just 1000VDC, we got 40W on 40 and 20 meters. This TBW will be on
the air the weekend of April 27 and 28, for "Submarines on the Air" ,
frequencies approximately 7043 and 14043KC, commencing about 1200Z,
callsign NX2ND (from the Ling's Navy callsign NXND).
We're still looking for a reasonably priced 843 tube, and working on the
800Hz power supply issue, but will be on the air regardless. Hope to see
many of you then.
Thanks to all and 73, Howie WB2AWQ
