Hi Bruce,
Good info to know (and William D's info too)! Were the AN/ARR-15s being
used with AN/ART-13s in the EC-121?
I'd never come across any similar info. The only in-service USAF
aircraft I ever saw at Blytheville AFB that had an AN/ART-13 still had a
BC-348 (in 1971!).
The AN/ARR-15 does seem to be the receiver of choice to go with a
post-WWII AN/ART-13. The USN had no receiver comparable to the BC-348
in WWII. I guess they must have used their ATC and AN/ART-13 sets with
the ARB and AN/ARC-5 receivers. At least one AN/ARC-5 manual I have
shows both of those arrangements.
I wonder what receiver the USAF used with the O-17/ART-13 LF transmitter
channel, or the USN used with the O-16/ART-13 LF channel, if they were
using the AN/ARR-15 with the T-47/ART-13. Maybe an R-23/ARC-5, or even
an AN/ARN-6 that was being used in a communications role???
