I used an SRR-13 on the ham bands for a number of years.  Interesting rig but 
not in the 390/390A class.  In their stock form the audio is AWFUL on phone.  
Includes a limiter circuit that can't be switched out and the audio chassis 
seemed to have been designed primarily to drive auxiliary RTTY equipment. The 
set does include a product detector (manual calls it a "BFO Mixer") and after 
some mods to the AGC circuit it worked very well on SSB.  I also had trouble 
in the front end.  The RF coils are wound with about #40 wire and the 
smallest amount of corrosion with do them in.  The projection dial was kind 
of neat, though.
