The -375 was definitely an older design. That was one way, the old
way, of solving the "channels" problem, i mean with the plugin TUs.

However- the R1155 vs BC-348 ???? I don't believe it. Seems to
me the -348 is MUCH more clever and sophisticated electrically
and mechanically. Despite the vaunted R1155 gear reduction tuning,
i believe the kHz / rotation tuning speed is worse, and the dial
markings are coarser, and the dial is right out there unprotected,
like
some pre-war US ham receiver. And that clunky connector on the front.

I won't enter the "ugliness" issue much, except that i prefer the
lighter
color. Boxiness and such is just an individual predilection.

BTW, it occurred to me re the BC-348, talking about it's wide AM
selectivity, the easiest way to increase the selectivity for AM might
be just to run the mixer output first thru 4 to 6 high Q tuned
circuits at
915 kHz. Like a series of LC's made up of silver micas and broadcast
band "loopstick" coils - the ones with real high Q, and that you
hardly
can find anymore.
