Need some information. In the process of restoring the radio room aboard
LST-325, need to know what wire would be best for the wire antennas for HF
work. While the ship was still in the hands of the Greeks and in the
process of being salvaged out, all the wire for the antennas was removed
and scrapped. Now we need to get the antennas back in the air for use with
TCS and TED transmitters and for the receivers. Hope to put up a long wire
from the top of the main mast to near the bow for work on 160 meters if
possible. Have heard a lot of discussion about wire, including, but not
restricted to, number 6 or 8 for transmitting, Poly covered wire, number
10 silver bronzed wire. What should be used?
