Hi Steve and group -

I, too, have been assembling the pieces for a couple stations, one being the
later Navy ARC-5 and the other being the earlier CBY* ARA/ATA gear. Unmodified
gear is not as plentiful or cheap as it once was, but it's still out there. Just
takes time, patience, and a good deal of scrounging. Being part packrat and
knowing others with the same afflictions is a huge help.

Currently I have some gear inbound from overseas(still), mostly AAF/command
versions that I picked up to fill holes until I can locate the correct units for
the installations. I'll be happy to make across the board trades for ARC-5 or
ARA/ATA gear once I have a complete list of the items I have to trade and need in
exchange. I'm not looking for the plain aluminum SCR-274N command set gear, only
the black ARC-5 and earlier ARA types. I just seem to be good(or lucky) at
finding the stuff I'm not looking for!

There are several other users I'm aware of who are in the same boat. I have their
names and email addresses and would be happy to hear from others as well who have
items excess to their needs to trade for items they want. Sure beats the
'collector' prices on epay, although you can find good deals on there too, if you
poke around a bit. The radios themselves are generally easier to find that the
accessories. This we know all too well.

Talk to your OT friends, MARS buddies, etc. You'd be amazed by what is lurking in
some cellars and garages.

73 & good luck!
