[Milsurplus] BC-224 question

Hi all

An early BC-224 just showed up on my doorstep and in
looking it over, it raises a question.

Did any of the early production(1939 era) 224s or 348s
have ventilation holes in the cabinet?

This one has a group of vent holes over the dynamotor
and a small group in the lower right side panel. They
are obvously professionally done, punched (not drilled)
and they appear to have been done before painting.
Definitely not the usual swiss cheese vent holes I 
see in modified sets.

Second(very long shot) question.  Anyone have a 
DM-24 dynamotor for sale?
