[Milsurplus] TM's on CD

Hi Norm & Crew:

There's a distinct possibility that those TM's were downloads from the Logsa
Army site.

There are a large number of released-to-the-public manuals which do no not
require clearance with an ID and password. They will just download without
a prompt for ID and you may notice that the allowable ones are all in the
"A" subdirectory.

If this is so, you can at least use the logsa site as an index. If you're
looking for a particular keyword, search on that and see what comes up in
the listing. This will show the title, plus the filename, PIN, etc. You
can then search your CD set for the matching filename and use that rather
than download again.
Need to be set up for 128 bit encryption on your browser, which you probably
are already.

The URL is: http://www.logsa.army.mil/etms/online.htm

Then click on "I accept", then on "Enter". You'll then get a search screen,
which can take TM numbers or keywords for the title as well as EM number or
PIN. For example, if you search on "R-390A" it will come up with four
files. The first and last are downloadable without clearance ID. It shows
the PIN numbers and TM numbers for all four. If your CD is what I think it
is, the filenames consist of six-digit numbers in the format 000000.pdf.
The six digit reference is the same as the PIN you'll find on Logsa.

Chances are, you won't find any of the restricted files on your CDs unless
they were restricted after the downloads were compiled. There isn't much
rhyme or reason as to what is still restricted.

Hope this helps.

Barry
