<< Returning to a thread running last year, can anyone state the altitude AE
was flying on the last leg? I did a Google search, and came up empty on
technical details of the flight (what a surprise).

I am looking at the second part of a radio analysis of the last contacts
which was published in the Fall 2001 issue of Radio Club of America
Proceedings, and trying to put some of the calculations in perspective.

I think if you visit the site of TIGHAR, The Interest Group for Historic
Aircraft Recovery, you will either find the information you need, or
good pointers to it. I believe they have published compendia of their
research, and a good part of it may be available free on their site.
They have probably hashed over the radio issues more than any other
researcher or group.
