Steve, I agree that a lot is sometimes missed when you dont see the private
emails flying back and forth as we did today.
Both ways of handling the auto 'reply to' have their problems where someone
isnt happy.
Most people forget it goes out to everyone and says something they didn't
want publicized.
The way it is setup now, you have to intentionally post back to the list,
making you think before you speak, so to say.
I do like it when someone poses a question and then later summarizes back to
the list all the private answers he gets in those instances where it
warrants everyone knowing the results.

FWIW... Sometimes I see an interesting question posted, then no replies,
then
the original poster sends a message thanking everyone for their help. They
must have been replying directly to him, since we didn't see the answers. I
would encourage everyone to post replies to the list as often as possible.
One of the great benefits of mailing lists is the sharing of info, and more
people can share if replies go to the list.
