STARTED SHORT, GOT LONG

The PAM2 discussion woke me to this

It'd be fun to have a 'TIQ-2 book. Own one & 2 matching reflex trumpets* &
have used it as hamfest boneyard PA a lot. Hard to substitute for that
"Parade Ground itten-hut sound"

One notable is that it's power xfrmr went up @ '97 Atl hamfest as a gal
was about to make an announcement.

No matter, schemat on base plate (or cover inside?) & I dashed to a guy
closing out his junk pile & bought a TV pwr xfrmr for .25 (?)

Brought it home that nite & gaffed w. outa town buds for hours &
was about to go into lidlock when I was challenged to "fix the damn green
PA." I took the bait, discovered TV xfrmr fair match w. orig, then mounted
same in orig. xfrmr hole w. stand-offs. And most neatly I might add
considering beer quotient.

& 'TIQ-2 stayed on duty 2 more days

*These are the things w. snap-on bells. The driver, matching
xfrmr, & trumpet innerds attach that way & for the life of me, I can't
find the "LS id" for 'em.

Specsmanship is not my middle name.

My ROTC had these ~1959 & I thot they were Korean era. But "trumpet
innerd" here inside says "bad VC 11-60" & driver xfrmr therein says
 UTC-made 1-45.

So I just discovered it was a WW2 system

Last. I saw a NEW one @ Dayton 2 yrs back & resisted buying even after
marked down to $50. To me then & now, one's plenty... even tho it had
 chest & book - which showed R100/URR as entertainment accsy. & it's
hook-uppage. That's maybe only mil manual reference to the R100.
