Hi Gang,
The SCR-299 didn't stop at the "D" model.
I have a preliminary instruction manual for the SCR-299-F.
It's dated October 19, 1943. Order No. 30204-PHILA-43
by Hallicrafters.
The transmitter listed is a BC-610-E with a BC-614-F (that's
correct, F) speech amp. along with the BC-729-C antenna tuner.
The K-51 is a large 1-1/2 ton Chevy 4X4 military panel truck
with dual wheels & not a standard civilian type.
I'm currently attempting to complete the SCR-399 set. I have just
about everything except for the HO-17 shelter. If anyone knows
where I can acquire one in restorable condition please contact me.
Best Regards,
Steve Finelli N3NNG

Henri-Paul,
TM 11-280, with changes and supplements, covers Radio Sets SCR-299-A, -B,
-C and -D. TM 11-281, with changes and supplements, covers Radio Sets
SCR-399-A & -B and SCR-499-A & -B. TM 11-281A covers Radio Set SCR-499-C.
TM 11-281B covers Radio Set AN/GRC-38. TM 11-264 and 11-264A cover Radio
Sets AN/GRC-26 and -26A.
SCR-299-(*) consists of Radio Transmitter BC-610-A through -D, Speech
Amplifier BC-614-A through -D, Antenna Tuning Unit BC-729-(*), Radio
Receivers BC-312-(*) and BC-342-(*) and various accessories mounted in
Truck K-51 (1-1/2 ton Chevrolet 4X4 panel) plus Generator PE-95-(*) mounted
in Trailer K-52 (1 ton). As originally issued, it covered the frequency
range of 2.0-8.0 MC. Frequency Conversion Kit MC-516 extended the
operating frequency range from 8.0 to 12.0 MC. Frequency Conversion Kit
MC-517 extended the range from 8.0 to 18.0 MC, but was not usable with the
radio sets when mounted in Truck K-51 (MC-517 included Antenna Tuning Unit
BC-939-A which is too tall to fit between the top of the BC-610-(*) and the
roof of the truck).
SCR-399-(*) is similar to SCR-299-D except for BC-610-E, BC-614-E,
BC-939-(*), Shelter HO-17-(*) mounted on
Truck, 2-1/2 ton 6X6 (various models), Junction Box JB-70-(*) in place of
Table MC-269-A, additional storage or operating chests, and some other
relatively minor changes. SCR-499-(*) is the same as SCR-399-(*) but
without the shelter and truck (under the AN nomenclature system,
SCR-499-(*) would have been AN/TRC-xxx).

>There is the TM 11-281 for SCR 399-A and SCR 499-4. The SCR 299 is not on
the same Manuel.
What is the difference between SCR 299 and the two others ?
