Nope. I've used anything I had including CR-1, FT-243, HC-6, etc, 
and they all work. The manual says that the crystal oscillator will 
double or triple just fine too.

You mean like an overtone crystal of some sort? I think you are 
right. The manual says as much, IIRC.

Boy, do I know that situation. We have been finishing a remodel 
and it has take WAY too much time away from more fun things.

I get up about 6 AM here, which is PST, but 6 AM EST is 3 AM 
PST. and I would never make that...
