You're probably thinking of the RT-196/PRC-6. Covers 47-55.4 MC FM. It is
Korean War vintage.
The only U.S. WW-II vintage sets I can think of that cover 6 Meters (AM) are
the TBY, BC-222 and BC-322, but they are back-pack sets (walkie-talkies) like
the BC-1000, not handie-talkies like the BC-611, and they did not have flat
ribbon antennas. Those appear to have come out with the AN/PRC-6/8/9/10.
There were several foreign sets done after the war similar in size to the
BC-611 (see History of the Squad Radio - the French built a close copy of the
PRC-6) but it seems unlikely that they would have shown up over here before
the late 50's, if ever.
