I used the BC-191 as an LF Aeronautical Homing Beacon.
We used an AC power supply, (there were three or four
versions of this), instead of a dynamotor. I used the
BC-191 or BC-375 (?) which was in an airplane over
Germany in 1948, but that was AM. Make sure the
contacts on the tuning units are clean. They're pretty
well temperature compensated. I have an LF antenna
tuning box, but I plan to use that on something else.
(The BC-191 will sit there day after day running max
output on A2 tone emmision without complaining. The
large AC power supply was OK, but the smaller ones
would melt after a while. We put a 2" air tube
with four(?) holes in it across the front.)
