Hi Robert. I may have sent you a copy of a photo I have of two MZ radio jeeps
on Guam, both with TCS radios and showing a BC-1000 on the hood of one of the
jeeps. This was taken at Ritidian Point on the 16th of August 1944. I do know
one gentleman that used a MZ-1 with a TCS in China at the end of the war (he
is 84) and several other vets that trained in the MZ series jeeps. They were
trained in CW and used a key with a leg clamp (as Robert well knows).

Being a Newbie at radio I'm just wondering what the purpose of each of the
radios used was? I'm familiar with the radios used in the PTO, mainly Navy
and USMC stuff. I understand the different ranges of frequencies in AM and FM
and most of the models used but lack the understanding in why they were used.
TBY, BC-1000 and SCR-536 were lighter but did not have the ability to reach
out to the controlling ships? Why use a SCR-608 at all if you could use a
TCS? Why the big push to go FM and higher frequency?

Regards,
Mark
