[Milsurplus] RF-350 Split

Hank,

Just got two bounces on your pacbell.net address.

Yep, finally made it to Greece, and took me awhile
to get settled for e-mail reflectors.

And quite frankly, on the RF-350 split, I just don't
know. If it would do half-duplex, I believe it would
have to be a programmed channel function.

As you know, the RF-350 will handle 99 channels, maybe
even 100 if zero zero is a channel, and I just don't
remember if an offset for TX can be programmed or what.
Since I never needed an offset, I never looked for that
function option.

I don't have a manual here, but I think I have a
copy of the cheat sheet for that unit, and I'll
take a look at lunch.

I have a Harris RF-3200 here at Greece, and per the
manual, it has the option of halfduplex channels, where
the TX and RX frequencies are different. The channels
can also be programmed for RX only, by programming the
TX frequency to zero.

There is also controllers for the RF-350 that do
some fancy stuff and perhaps that is necessary for
the split frequency operations. The setup I
had in RP had the RF-7110 Adaptive Controller, but
I think it had a problem that gave me an error code,
plus it was confusing in what it did, so I never
worried about it. Maybe that would allow the system
to do split frequency.

If the RF-350 will do split frequency, I do not believe
that it will be something that one might want to use
for DX/contesting split frequency. It is just not that
flexible.
