[Milsurplus] Why is there no broadcast band on BC-348's ?

The BC-348 was designed for U.S. military communications.
No U.S. military communications took place in the 
broadcast band at that time.  Thus, a broadcast band
would add costs without added benefits.  The broadcast band
was used for direction finding, and was therefore included
in the radio compass.
